The Memory Police - My Musings

I guess the book succeeded in compelling me to write down my thoughts lest I forget. A nice book that puts forth some ideas as to what truely comprises or makes a person, is it one's voice, through spoken words or just letters scribbled down in a corner of sheet, either with deep thoughts or nothing at all. I assure you readers that these words you see here are just shallow musings of a bored person.

I like how the start of the novel about the typewritter is disjointed from the main story at first and as the story progresses with the disappearings, it slowly becomes a retelling of novelist experience and once novel's disappear, what can only be mustered by the novelist are her memories to be written down from the perspective of the typewritter. What was left of the novelist was the voice that was taken away from the start by the typewritter's teacher.

With the end of the book, what I took away was that anything and everything can be lost. Thus it is important to write down whatever can be lost even with the remotest of chance of recovery. Through these voices, it is eventually the ones who remember that prevail.
